Kay Black Leaf WAKE-UP Tea

When in Turkey, have Kay like the Turks do. Unlike any other tea, Kay is special in every possible way right from the way it's brewed and served on different occasions. Sourced straight from our blenders in Istanbul from the eastern Black Sea coast where it belongs, Kay is your tea if you know your teas inside out and find special delight in sipping the best of the lot.
Kay is a mandatory Turkish welcome drink which holds a special place in every Turk's life as is Chai for us. It's so popular that special Kay gatherings are organised in tea gardens just to celebrate and enjoy this radiant crimson drink in all its glory.
Brewed over two kettles in a unique style of preparation, served strong without milk in short tulip-shaped mugs, this black tea is full-bodied, brisk and aromatic to taste. Every tea connoisseur's favourite, this tea is refreshing, energising and every bit tealicious when brewed right.

How To Brew

How To Brew
  • Water is Tea’s best friend

  • Boil 2 cups of water onto the gas or in an electric kettle

  • Add 3 teaspoons of Turkish Kay Black Leaf WAKE-UP Tea

  • Give another boil and turn off the gas/kettle

  • Cover the vessel with a lid and let it steep for a minute/incase of a kettle keep it shut

  • Strain and serve

  • Serve without milk to enjoy its brisk flavour

  • Add brown sugar to taste and a dash of lime

  • Serve in transparent tulip shot cups

  • Alternatively, you can serve it as a chilled infusion by cooling it for 2-3 hours and adding a dash of honey and cinnamon

*At RadhikasFineTeas we believe a recipe for tea simply spoils it, instead a pinch of your favorite leaf is what you need to explore the nuances and notes of tea as it unfurls and expands, adjusting with more or less leaf or more or less water.
So a pinch is thus taking for measurements sake a TABLESPOON of the leaf or 2 grams for 8 ounces of water.
